First of all, what does UhBoohBahBaby mean? Koreans use the slang term, "uhboohbah" to mean "piggyback ride". When my daughter was younger, she wanted to be carried constantly so I would say, "Uhboohbah, baby." And she'd get on my back to be carried. I guess you can say it's "Konglish" (Korean-English) like the podaegi's (Korean baby carriers) that I make and sell here on this website. It's a twist on the traditional Korean.
How do you pronounce "UhBoohBahBaby"? Just as you see it written here, it's 4 syllables. "Uh" - "Booh" - "Bah" - "Baby". The "uh" is like the "u" in "umbrella".
How do you spell and pronounce "podaegi"? And why is it spelled differently? What is a "podaegi"? Here's the link to my post: http://www.uhboohbahbaby.com/2007/10/what-does-podae.html
What do you make and sell? At this point, I make and sell the modified Korean podaegi (aka podegi, pod). It consists of a narrow blanket with long straps that you tie it around you and your baby. The pod is made of 100% cotton fabrics, and the blanket and shoulder part of the straps are lightly padded for comfort to you and your baby. I can make either the traditional straight strap pod or the angled strap pod which is easier to use for ruck/shoulder carries. Please ask me for advice if you're not sure which style to get.
Should I get a straight strap pod or an angled strap pod? Please see post: http://www.uhboohbahbaby.com/2007/10/what-strap-styl.html
Do you make wide-blanket podaegi's? Not as of now. It may come later on.
Can I send you custom fabrics to make the pods with? Yes, I will take 100% cotton quilting weight fabrics that have been prewashed and preshrunk or any other fabrics that are not too light or too heavy, also prewashed and preshrunk. The cut of fabric needs to be centered on the design that you desire, and the dimensions need to be at least 30" long x 22" wide. Please arrange shipping with me. You will need to pay for shipping the fabric(s) to me. Please keep in mind the twill/denim fabrics that I have available so you can determine how the combinations will work together.
Does it cost more to use custom fabrics that I send you? A little more, yes. I will charge a small $5 cutting fee for custom fabrics since I precut all my fabrics at once. It'll take more time for me to custom cut your fabric.
Do you make reversible pods, extras like baby swaddle/seat, toy loops, headrests/sleep hoods, pockets etc? I am taking orders for reversible pods. Please add $10 extra. I am looking into developing a design for a baby swaddle/seat but I will not be testing these until probably sometime in the spring. I will not be changing the design to include headrests since the pod is so easy to just pull up higher when the baby wants to go to sleep vs the mei tai's height that's set by the bottom waist straps. The current headrest has plenty of padding for sleepy heads.
How do you use the pods? Here's the link to my post: http://www.uhboohbahbaby.com/2007/10/podaegi-how-to-.html
